I woke up to this Somerville Alert this morning..Running inside..yet again. boo.
This is Tom Champion from the City of Somerville with important cold weather information. Current forecasts call for dangerously cold temperatures and hazardous wind chill conditions through Saturday, January 16th. Residents should try to minimize outside activities, and be especially alert to the safety of the elderly and the very young. For those with heating emergencies or no access to shelter, the city will be operating warming centers at the following locations: the Holland Street Center at 167 Holland Street; the Ralph & Jenny Center at 9 New Washington Street and the Cross Street Center at 165 Broadway. All warming centers will be open on Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and longer if needed. Please be alert to anyone, and especially elderly neighbors, who may be suffering distress as a result of the cold weather. Please also be conscious of the fire risks associated with electric space heaters. If you see anyone in your neighborhood, or on the streets, who may need assistance, don’t hesitate to call the Somerville Police at 617-625-1212. For additional information, please call 311. Thank you.
What is the World on Ice?
I'm still trying to figure that out. The only thing I know is that I am Ice, and the world, well the world is crazy. But, I'm inspired by cool people and cool stuff in this world everyday. So I've decided to give you my take on it. Might as well add some more crazy to the world, right?

The World is Our Playground
This morning my spinning teacher left us with something pretty awesome to think about. He said, "Treat the World Like Your Playground". What did he mean? Stop treating the world as an uninviting obstacle. Climb it, Hike it, Ride it, Swing on it. Go as Fast or Go Slow. Whatever makes you comfortable. Play Well with Others. Let others help you on the monkey bars. Try your best until you can get across. Swing as high as you can. Enjoy the sunshine. Jump as high as you can and Laugh as hard as you can. The world is our playground. Explore every inch of the road, the water, the city, the mountains. Don't abuse it, live with it, peacefully. And enjoy it.
This was his philosophy that left us pretty psyched for the day. He shares it with his friend and famous marathon runner, Uta Pippeg. She has a pretty inspiring website as well, inspiring new and beginner fitness people to take the steps to get out there and play!

Maybe if we all looked at the world as a playground, not to be abused but enjoyed, we'd have a lot more fun!

One-Eyed Willie Lives Again!
Four things I love about the Goonies:
1. My initials (NSD) = Goonies Mantra "Never Say Die"
2. Chunk in the closet eating Rocky Road
3. Bran.
4. New Goonies Sneaks from Puma.
